2 Essential Points to Consider  before you Buy Garden Sheds

Most timber garden sheds come in standard sizes and have corresponding standard sized features. However, many a shed buyer has ended up very disappointed with their purchase because they did not plan ahead. It is important that you take the time to check your measurements before you buy garden sheds.

1. Make sure your shed is significantly longer than that longest items you wish to store, otherwise you won't be able to get it into the shed and move it around to store it

2. Make sure the door is wide enough the get the largest and most bulky items in and out of the shed easily. Check to see if the standard door width is sufficient. You may need to request an "Extra Width" door size.

Timber garden sheds are a very useful feature for any garden. They are a practical addition to your home and garden, and if well maintained are less of an eyesore than most other garden features. A few hanging baskets and well positioned pots can make the garden shed into an attractive garden feature. However, it is usually in the practical elements of choosing the shed that the mistakes are made. It is easy to see the standard shed sizes and think that everything you want will fit easily in, but that is not always the case.

Take a moment to consider some of the things that many people want to use their garden sheds to store. There is usually a mixture of stuff, such as gardening tools, decorating tools, kids toys and bikes, and the stuff that you don't really want around the house anymore, but aren't quite ready to throw away yet.

If you stop to consider these items it is quite possible that some of them are quite bulky, or of a long or wide shape. It is not safe to assume that these items will fit into a standard sized shed until you have actually checked that not only will it fit in the door, but you will subsequently have room to manoeuvre it into place so that it is not blocking the door.

The second major reason why garden sheds can be disappointing is if you do not take into account the width of the door opening. Lets be honest, kids outdoor toys are becoming larger and more bulky all the time. The bikes, trikes and go-karts, not to mention the sand-pit, the golf trollies and the wheelbarrows. The number of times that you can find all these left outside a practically empty garden shed merely because it is to difficult, or physically impossible to fit them through the door is quite shocking.

With a little forethought the shed could have been assembled with a door that is larger than standard, making it easy to store all you things inside. There they will be protected from the weather, making them last longer, and far less likely to be taken by the opportunistic thief.

Isn't that what you want the shed for in the first place?
